About

The Ghana Association of Tourism and Hospitality Students (GATHS), previously known as the Ghana Association of Tourism Students (GATS), serves as a prominent National Association for Ghanaian tertiary students specializing in Tourism, Hospitality, and related programs. Established on October 16th, 2016, at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), GATHS emerged from the collaborative efforts of leaders and executives within the Tourism and Hospitality departments of various tertiary institutions across the country.

The association operates under the guidance of esteemed entities such as the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC), the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), and the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF), along with other Public Private Partnership Entities in Ghana.

At its core, GATHS functions as a federation comprising local associations of tourism and hospitality across various campuses, encompassing universities and training colleges. Its membership base, consisting of over 3,000 students, reflects the widespread enthusiasm and engagement within the industry.

GATHS upholds a clear mission: to unite students pursuing studies in Tourism, Hospitality, and related disciplines at the tertiary level. This unification aims to drive robust growth within Ghana's tourism and hospitality sector. To achieve this, GATHS focuses on bridging the gap between academia and industry, advocating for the welfare of its members, and enhancing the industry's overall status through impactful educational initiatives.

The association's vision is equally ambitious, seeking to advance sustainable practices within the domains of tourism and hospitality. GATHS envisions Ghana as a globally recognized destination, synonymous with exceptional tourism experiences. To fulfill this vision, GATHS aims to empower future professionals in the field, cultivate a strong network of industry relationships, and contribute significantly to sustainable economic growth.
