Legal Guard was established in 2004 as a legal expense insurance company. Its core mandate is to sell and administer affordable and appropriate legal expense Insurance products and services that are easily accessible to all Batswana. Legal Guard has since inception resolved many legal matters. Legal Guard offers a vast variety of legal services, covering; Civil and criminal matters; Contracts; Wills; Roadside assistance; Accidently death cover and Medical cover.

Legal Guard started under Letshego Financial Services trading as Letshego Guard. In 2010, Legal Guard was acquired by Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited (BIHL) Group and is presently underwritten by BIHL. In August 2010, Legal Guard further increased it product offering with the introduction of Elite Guard, and Mmueledi Guard. Extra benefits such as Roadside assistance, Accidental death cover and Medical cover were also extended to clients and customers across the country.
Legal Guard commemorated its 10th anniversary in March 2014, marking a decade since first opening its doors to Batswana. The company was incorporated on 10th March 2004 as a legal expense insurance company. Each year, a team of qualified lawyers assists over 20,000 people in managing their legal matters. Over the past decade, the operation has amassed up to 65,000 customers.

Legal Guard has been the ‘key' to Botswana's legal insurance landscape for the last 10 years, and it has been a very exciting journey. Legal Guard has since developed into a mature and profitable operation which will continue to make a positive impact in the lives of its clients and customers across Botswana.
