About
CMAC is an acronym standing for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration Commission. CMAC was established in terms of Section 62 of The Industrial Relations Act, 2000 (as amended). CMAC is therefore a statutory body and derives its mandate from the enabling statute being the IR Act.
CMAC is a category A Public Enterprise or Parastatal and wholly funded by the Government of Swaziland. Its line Ministry is the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. The purpose of the organization is to promote effective labour dispute management and to undertake speedy dispute resolution for parties involved in the labour market.
The Commission is independent of control of any person, including but not limited to, any statutory body, Government, political entity, employer, federation or organization. See Section 63 of the IR Act.
In terms of Section 64(1) (b) of the Act, CMAC is required to attempt to resolve, through conciliation, any dispute referred to it in terms of the Act.
