About

Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia is a branch of Habitat for Humanity International, a global nonprofit organization working in more than 70 countries. Currently operating under Africa Habitat for Humanity International, HFHE is working to improve the lives of families and individuals affected by various forms of vulnerabilities through housing, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and Disaster Risk Reduction Response (DR3)-WASH Resilience Building. Additionally, Habitat Ethiopia works to enhance families' and communities' capacity for water scheme governance and sustainable use of sanitation facilities.

Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia works with communities and organizations to improve the lives of families by removing the barriers that keep them away from a decent and healthy place to call home.
Our program focusses areas include:
• Housing for families with low or no income
• Water and sanitation facilities, including drainages for waste management
• Disaster resilience building
• Capacity building

To build community resilience against flood hazards in urban areas of Addis Ababa, Habitat for Humanity has been working with the University of Cambridge since March 2022.

We have also launched the Stand for Her Land Project to promote women's land and property ownership rights in Ethiopia by fostering grassroots-led movements and coalition formation.
