About
The PSAM has been engaging governments intending to achieve greater social accountability since 1999. We have a unique approach to understanding and unpacking accountability in the management of public resources, which is grounded in the PSAM's 5-process rights-based approach.
PSAM's strength lies in working in collaboration at the sub-national, national, regional or international level, where we possess a rich diversity of experience and skills to support more active citizens and accountable governments. We believe that multi-stakeholder co-creation in governance plays an integral part in achieving sustainable development outcomes.
PSAM's track record of achievements across southern African countries is grounded upon its analytical, research, advocacy, training, facilitation and media liaison skills. PSAM leverages its regional reach across a diversity of civil society, government agencies and oversight bodies operating at various levels in different contexts that have a stake in the development discourse.
We have a keen interest in understanding what does and does not work to build accountable governance systems. Our learning interests help us get better at what we do and support broader social accountability discourses and practice. We prioritize learning and adaptation to identify what works best in a given context. We understand that we are always learning and evolving, and are structured to continuously negotiate our relationships to achieve optimal results. We recognize that what we want to achieve cannot be accomplished alone. We seek to take advantage of our individual and collective strengths to achieve greater impact. This has enabled and required us to learn to engage productively, even with those with whom we do not necessarily agree, be it practically or philosophically.
