About

African Crisis Group is a consulting agency specialized in risk assessment and monitoring, prevention and resolution of crises and conflicts, and in support for good governance. Its mission is to contribute to the general peace-building effort in Africa. It does so by using two complementary methods. On the one side, the ACG promotes in Africa a culture of prevention of conflicts in lieu of a culture of reaction. On the other side, the ACG directly intervenes on the ground when crises and conflicts break out.

The intervention of the ACG allows the agency to serve as a mediator and facilitator of dialogue between the actors involved in a conflict. The methodology used to intervene is based on both traditional and modern dispute resolution mechanisms. In parallel with the agenda of international organisations, the ACG seeks to promote, according to the size of the conflicts, a cross-border and transnational synergy of the peoples and civil society organizations concerned by the conflict, all the while relying on local and traditional structures of intervention.

From 2011 to 2018, the African Crisis Group has intervened as a mediator in most crises and conflicts that occurred in Africa (Mali, Guinea, Senegal, Togo, Niger, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, and the Ivory Coast)
