About

Youth and Women Initiative for Sustainable Development (YWISD) is a non- profit, non-government Community Based Organization (CBO) with people centered, community and empowerment projects to youth and women in areas code named as hard-to-reach. It's committed to positive empowerment of mothers and youth to bridge the gap of gender inequality and unemployment in Wakiso district through life-long and self-sustaining projects in Uganda

The formation of YWISD was out of passionate young graduated development practitioners who wanted to increase women participation in productive roles, reduce the increasing number of unemployed youth, bridge the gap of gender and economic inequalities, reduce school dropouts, human rights violation among other pressing community challenges of youth and women in Uganda and Wakiso in particular. This is through innovating and framing of programs that incubate various projects leading to sustainable development in community.

Mission:
To promote a well mobilized, pro-active, empower and poverty free society with women and youth in productive roles.

Vision:
To have women and youth who are inclusively, practically involved in sustainable development and improve their livelihoods.

Goal:
To empower women and youth shift from reproductive roles to productive roles in their communities through capacity building and participation in the development process.
