About

Global Youth Counterpart for Sustainable Development (GYC) is a youth led and youth serving Non- Profit organization localizing the United Nations SDGs and pioneering young people to take sustainable actions in Sierra Leone.

Our mission is to amplify the voices of young Sierra Leoneans and enhance their participation in the developmental agenda of their country.
GYC focuses on climate justice, livelihoods and employments, capacity development and education. We believe that the right support for youth will enable them to hold their government accountable towards ensuring we end poverty, attain decent work and education as well as good health and winning the battle against climate change. GYC's interventions are dedicated to enabling young people discover their tremendous potentials and untapped energy so as to become productive and well -informed global citizens and key torch for achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Believing in the ideals of promoting, inspiring and igniting spaces for youth participation in all development sphere, decision making processes as well as their contributions to sustainable development policy's will in turn result in their abilities to make the social changes needed for a more independent and safer future. Our work is deeply moored on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
GYC Specializes in empowering communities and young people to protect the integrity of nature, through high impact education outreach programs, empowerment of women through livelihood development, practical training and strengthening capacities for management of local environment and climate education to rural communities and creating space for dialogue to enhance participation in environmental governance.
