About

The ECC is a not-for-profit, non-governmental civil society platform that observes elections in Liberia since 2011. the ECC remains the single largest civil society platform for monitoring, documenting, and reporting on elections in Liberia.
ECC first observed the 2011 General and Presidential Elections that brought Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to power for her second term. Since then, she went on to observe every election along the way; including the 2014 mid-term elections, the 2017 General and Presidential Elections, and the 2020 mid-term Senatorial elections, and with other by-elections in between major elections.

As with structure, the ECC is composed of more than 30 civil society organizations with seven (7) Steering Committee Member organizations. These organizations include the Institute for Research and Democratic Development (IREDD), the Center for Media Studies and Peacebuilding (CEMESP), Naymote-Partners for Democratic Development (Naymote-PADD), West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), Women NGO Secretariat of Liberia (WoNGOSoL), and the Center for Democratic Governance which sits as its current chair.

The ECC is decentralized with 16 County County Coordinators, and 73 Electoral District Supervisors with more than 2000 short-term observers referred to as STOs. As its mandate to ensure public confidence in democracy, the ECC has deployed more than 2000 observers nationwide in every general election in Liberia.
