The University of Health Sciences (UOHS) was established in the year 2000 as the College of Health Sciences Sighting to reverse the declining trends in key Health sector indicators in Puntland and Somalia as a whole. In 2012 after the college has succeeded in producing competent medical and health professionals, it was promoted to the University of Health Sciences.
The University of Health Sciences (UOHS), is sighted as a premier Health University of choice within Somalia whose graduates competently and confidently serve the nation, and offers undergraduate bachelor and diploma programs including, medicine, nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, medical laboratory, nutrition and environmental science.
