As the first Luxury Collection property in Hungary, this landmark hotel occupies the beautiful Matild Palace, a palatial neo-baroque building on the gateway to the Elisabeth Bridge over the Danube. Originally built between 1899 and 1902, under the patronage of Princess Clotilde of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, by Hungarian-German architect Kálmán Giergl, both the Matild and its sister building, the Klotild Palace, feature large copies of the crown of the Archduke a top their twin towers.

The new hotel features 130 elegantly appointed rooms and suites along with multiple options for dining, including Spago by Wolfgang Puck, the historical Matild Café and Cabaret—the first in the city to open after World War II— and The Duchess rooftop bar.
