About
Dalhousie Orbital & Space Systems Lab. (DOSS) is a multidisciplinary team of highly motivated students and faculty from Dalhousie University. DOSS focuses on the research & development of various space flight systems, and space propulsion systems, including sub-orbital satellites and prototype launch vehicles (LV) and high altitude rocketry systems.
In May of 2018, DOSS was awarded 200,000 CAD by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) to design and build a 2U cubesat, to pursue space related research topics. LORIS is a 1st generation CubeSat, with multispectral imagery and high frequency uplink/downlink capabilities, being built by DOSS. LORIS is scheduled for launch by 2021. Upon completion, LORIS will be injected into its orbit, from the International Space Station (ISS).
