About

Shishu Sarothi is a non-profit organization working with children with disabilities since 1987. With aspirations to create a better world where human rights are equally enjoyed by all, Shishu Sarothi has ever since offered services such as comprehensive training, employment generation, scholarship, rehabilitation, outreach, counseling and vocational education programs. Apart from this, Shishu Sarothi has always been dedicated towards spreading awareness and protecting the rights of people with disabilities in Northeast India.

Shishu Sarothi is affiliated to the Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy, Kolkata for staff training and technical knowledge needs at the Centre for Special Education and its Outdoor Services. Member of the Zonal Coordination Committee (ZCC) for the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). State Nodal Agency Centre for the National Trust. Active member of the Disability Rights Group and other national level advocacy bodies.

• National Award for Best Institution (Additional) in 2004 from the then President of India.
• State Award for Best Community Service in 2007 from the then Chief Minister of Assam.
• Poorvatra Pradeshi Marwari Yuva Manch Award in the year 2013.
• XIVth AIWEFA – Nina Sibal Memorial Award in 2016 for outstanding work for people with special needs.
• Founder Director of Shishu Sarothi, Mrs Mira Kagti was conferred with the Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award in the year 2010, conferred by the Ministry of Women and Child Development,Govt of India.
Executive Director of Shishu Sarothi, Mr Arman Ali was conferred a National Award in Public Recognition for outstanding Performance as the Most Efficient Disabled Employee.
