St. Bede's College, Shimla, established in 1904, is much more than a cluster of lifeless concrete blocks and specter-thin boughs of pine trees in the midst of winding hills of Himachal Pradesh. It is a great academic community formed as a part of a precious catholic heritage, sustained by the ardent love of knowledge. St. Bede's, a historical and educational landmark of Northern India, aims at formation and training of young women. It has been imparting higher education in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce and the training of Teachers. It was recognized by the University Grants Commission under 2(f) and 12(b), and is the only college in HP State Re-Accredited with ‘A +'Grade by UGC-NAAC.

St. Bede's is run by the Sisters of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary. It was founded by St. Claudine Thevenet, and she was convinced that only knowledge and love of God could transform the society of her time. Her aim was to make God known and loved through Christian education of the young. The Congregation has reached far and wide into all continents.

St. Bede's College welcomes students of all religions. We are committed to give our students the ability to recognize the divine in themselves and their fellow beings, and thus to respect the dignity and uniqueness of each individual. It has been institution's consistent endeavour to provide quality education to its students; inculcate discipline as well as provide an opportunity for all round personal development. We are fortunate to have committed and competent faculty, supported by a motivated and cooperative non-teaching staff. The college is proud to have an automation done in its administration and library. It gives the parents an easy access to the performance of their wards in the college.
