About

Kochi University is the only national university in Kochi Prefecture, located in the Shikoku region of Japan.
As a national university located in a rural area, Kochi University contributes to the development of local culture and industry, develops high-quality educational activities, and promotes advanced academic research that can be disseminated from the region to the world.

History:
Kochi University was established in 1949 from the former Kochi High School established in 1922.
In 2003, Kochi University merged with Kochi Medical School, which was established in 1976, and in 2004, Kochi University became a national university corporation.
The University has since been reorganized to meet the needs of the times, and currently has the following six faculties and one graduate school.
