Did you know that the work we do today was originally inspired by Buddy, a guide dog who was suffering from kidney failure in the late 1930s? Dr. Mark Morris Sr. believed the illness was a result of poor nutrition, so he developed a new pet food to help Buddy live a longer, healthier life. That pet food was the forerunner of Hill's Prescription Diet® k/d® Canine.

Dr. Morris was a caring veterinarian, a visionary for clinical nutrition and the founder of Hill's Pet Nutrition. We are proud to carry on his tradition of caring and his commitment to transforming lives through the highest-quality pet nutrition available. In fact, our mission is "to help enrich and lengthen the special relationships between people and their pets."
