About

Grønt Marked is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit association that organises farmers markets in Copenhagen. We do this to support small local food producers and to make high-quality, sustainable food available for the city's residents and visitors.

By organising markets and other activities, we want to support an active local community around food and connections between food producers and citizens. Our hope with this is to bring the countryside and city closer together and be part of mobilising support for a more sustainable food system.

The markets are for small food producers and farmers who care for the products they produce and the impact they have on the climate, environment, animal welfare etc. We prioritise producers that seek to follow regenerative farming practices, produce using urban farming models, have high-quality hand-made products and/or have socially progressive employment and ownership models.

Copenhagen does not have a recent tradition for farmers markets, which means that just by filling this gap we are contributing to supporting small producers with an important, low-cost sales channel.

Grønt Marked is non-profit and all income is used to organise markets, grow the market model in Copenhagen and other activities that seek to support a more sustainable food system.
