RELEASING AND EMPOWERING THE PRODUCTIVE POOR

Hauge Micro Finance AS is a Norwegian non-profit operating in Burundi. We believe that people entrapped in poverty are best suited to help themselves out of their dire circumstances, if they are given the right tools and support. We therefore provide access to affordable and easy-to-understand financial services, as well as training in basic life- and business skills with the long-term aim of stimulating economic growth in local communities.

OUR HISTORY - FROM ONE POOR COUNTRY TO ANOTHER
Hauge Micro Finance AS was founded in 2007 by a group of Christian bankers, business leaders and idealists who wanted to use their skillsets in order to help some of the poorest people in the world.

The group was particularly inspired by how the movement started by Norwegian serial-entrepreneur and revivalist Hans Nilsen Hauge (1771-1824) had laid the foundation for the transformation of Norway from being one of Europe's poorest countries in the 18th century, to becoming one of the richest in the world today.

If the principles of the Bible taken seriously could transform Norway, why not Burundi?
