In het monumentale pand in het hart van Amsterdam, dat nu een museum is, heeft Rembrandt tussen 1639 en 1658gewoond en gewerkt. Aan de hand van een inventarislijst uit de zeventiende eeuw is het huis uiterst zorgvuldig heringericht met meubels, kunst en voorwerpen uit die tijd. Bezoek zijn atelier, de oude keuken en woonkamer en waan je in de zeventiende eeuw. Het huis vertelt het verhaal van Rembrandt de mens, de kunstenaar, de leermeester, de verzamelaar, de ondernemer en de Amsterdammer. Het museum bezit een bijna complete collectie etsen van Rembrandt en ontwikkelt inspirerende tentoonstellingen over Rembrandt zelf, over zijn voorgangers, tijdgenoten en leerlingen. Tevens is het de plek waar het werk van hedendaagse kunstenaars, die zich hebben laten inspireren door het werk van Rembrandt, wordt getoond. Kom langs en ontmoet hem in zijn eigen huis!

Visit Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn's home and workshop. For twenty years the Netherlands' greatest artist lived and worked in this impressive building in the heart of Amsterdam, now a museum. The Rembrandt House Museum gives visitors a complete Rembrandt experience. With a seventeenth-century inventory as a guide, the house has been meticulously refurbished with furniture, art and objects from that time. The museum has an almost complete collection of Rembrandt etchings and stages inspiring exhibitions about Rembrandt, his predecessors, contemporaries and pupils. The Rembrandt House Museum is also a venue for exhibitions of work by contemporary artists—artists who have been inspired by the work of Rembrandt, their seventeenth- century predecessor.
