Hubbub.shop is a climate-tech startup eliminating consumer waste by making it convenient and cheap for consumers to access, rather than own the items they need. Platform users can rent items such as microwaves, tools, and TVs for anywhere between a few days to a full year, and have the items delivered right to their door. We are building the data analytics and logistics technology that enables us to acquire and store inventory at very low costs. As our system extends the useful lifetime of otherwise unwanted items, we are able to collect multiple cycles of revenue from each item. This model has allowed us to remain profitable as we continue to scale the impact and operational capacity of Hubbub.

We launched Hubbub after noticing the massive amounts of high quality items left behind on the Columbia University campus when students would move out of their housing between semesters. This results in over 80,000 lbs of quality items sent to landfill from Columbia's undergrads alone and adds to the $630B of value that's wasted globally each year. Talking to consumers and noticing similar trends of this waste occurring across NYC and on campuses throughout the country, it was clear that the high costs and hassles associated with conventional ownership were driving this unsustainable consumer habit.

We are growing Hubbub into a massive rental ecosystem that will eventually be the go-to place for consumers to rent any item they need. At the moment, we are focused on our target market of students and college-aged professionals living in NYC as we validate our model and build the backend to support our future growth.
