About

Caves S. João is a small family-owned wine company that started its activity in 1920. Being founded by three brothers it is still in the hands of members of that same family - actualy two grandchildren of the founders.
It dedicated itself to teh production and commercialization of still and sparkling wines.
Its most famous brands are the Frei João (red, white and rosé) and the Porta dos Cavaleiros (red and white)
The company owns an estate where it produces the grapes that will create the wines Poço do Lobo- red and sparkling wines)
It also commercializes aguardentes and its reserva wines are of great quality.
Besides these company possesses one of the biggest wine cellars with more than a million old wine bottles some of the vintages dating back from 1963.
