On November 30, 2014, the people of Graubünden approved the secondary legislation relating to the territorial reform. Thus, the eleven new regions, including the MOESA REGION consisting of 12 municipalities (the smallest has 83 inhabitants to the largest has 2483 inhabitants), became operational as of 1. January 2016 and the then regional corporations Mesolcina Region and Calanca Regional Organization dissolved, as well as the 39 Circles of the Canton as of 31.12.2017.
Under cantonal law, the Moesa Region, with its headquarters in Roveredo, serves the effective performance of tasks of the municipalities of the Moesa Region and the joint making of binding decisions in regional affairs assigned to it by the canton or the municipalities.
In detail, it carries out the following tasks
Executions and bankruptcies (Office), Civil Status (Office), child and adult protection law (Office), spatial development (regional master planning), administration of the Circle Archives and other tasks in accordance with the corresponding cantonal special legislation.
