About
A countryside escape in Cheshunt
Dating back to the 15th-century, Theobalds Estate in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire has had several former lives: the favourite country seat of King James I, a Georgian family home, a temporary retreat for Christopher Wren's Temple Bar archway and a WWII military riding school; all before turning into a hotel in the 1990s.
The heart of the estate is the mansion house that was built in 1763. Grade II*-listed, the building marries towering turrets, elegant arched windows and a warm red brick façade with 21st-century style to create a memorable setting for a range of events from meetings to weddings.
Outside, 55 acres of parkland grounds lend themselves perfectly to team building along with the hotel's tree house, ideal for events that require something a little out of the ordinary.
At the restaurant, the modern British menu features classic dishes, sourced seasonally from good suppliers whilst the Executive Chef team curate celebration menus that deliver restaurant-quality food for a wide range of events.
Looking out across the landscaped Italian gardens and the Hertfordshire countryside beyond, it's easy to forget that Theobalds Estate is only 10 miles north of central London, and just minutes away from J25 of the M25.
Free, superfast Wi-Fi with a maximum bandwidth of 100Mb is available throughout the hotel.
