Bina Taruna sejak dulu memang menjadi nama sebuah club olah raga "mahal" yang pernah mengharumkan dan menjadi kebanggan dalam setiap kompetisi olah raga Bulu Tangkis (badminton) pada tahun 1980-an di Kota Manado Sulawesi Utara. namun sebelumnya nama Club Persatuan Bulutangkis atau yang disingkat PB. Bina Taruna dimulai di Kota Gorontalo sejak tahun 1979 didirikan oleh (Alm). IR. AWAD RACHMAN, BRE. MRE, seorang Birokrat Dinas PU Provinsi Sulut dan Teknokrat Lulusan ITB Bandung tahun 1971.
