NIRDTP is a national research and development institute coordinated by the Romanian Ministry for Research and Innovation

NIRDTP conducts research, development and innovation activities mainly focused on advanced magnetic materials with novel structures and properties, including new preparation methods and characterization techniques, as well as on their applications in engineering, medicine and biotechnology.

NIRDTP's mission is to deliver cutting-edge materials and research solutions to its partners and customers through an efficient "know how" transfer of customized R&D services. NIRDTP helps overcome major challenges faced by industry and society in a very wide range of fields by targeting emerging, high-impact technologies and turning research results into marketable innovations.

NIRDTP's R&D activities focus on supporting the requirements of industry and needs of society (in different sectors) by developing research solutions based on three core areas:
1. Fundamental research – new scientific research results published in scientific papers
2. Applied research – applications-oriented research registered as international patents
3.Technological research – practical implementation of patents in new technological devices
