Hailey College of Banking & Finance was established on 26th March 2003 as the fifth Constituent College of the University of the Punjab in the premises donated by his Excellency Sir Ganga Ram for advancement of education in Commerce. At the time of inception, Hailey College of Banking & Finance offered BBA (Hons.) and MBA programs in the discipline of Banking & Finance. The Curriculum was developed after in depth study of the needs of Financial and Corporate Sectors. The focus was to equip the students with strong academic background and ongoing business practices so that the graduates of the College can meet different challenges in their profession. Product of the College was well received by Industry.

The Curriculum in both the disciplines i.e. Banking & Finance and Insurance & Risk Management is compatible with the Curriculum of Professional Institutions in Banking and Insurance both at home and abroad. Many students of the College have qualified different stages of exam of these Institutions prior to their graduation thus adding more to their personal profile. Expansion in the academic program required increase in the infrastructure. New academic block has since been completed and is providing conducive academic atmosphere. The academic staff is a blend of professionals and academicians focusing development of a breed of professionals who can shoulder higher responsibilities in the Business and Professional Organizations.
