About

Since its establishment in 2008, Marine and Environmental Research (MER) Lab has evolved into a leading research-SME with a focus on the marine environment of Cyprus. Our team is composed of a dynamic mix of highly qualified, motivated, young, and experienced marine biologists and environmental scientists. We are dedicated to delivering top-notch services in marine environment studies, fisheries, and aquaculture, maintaining close collaborations with local stakeholders in these sectors.

Over the past decade, MER has made significant strides, having coordinated or contributed to over 70 European and national projects and research programs in marine biology/ecology, aquaculture, and fisheries across Cyprus. We also serve as an independent scientific consultant for governmental bodies, providing expert advice and insights.

Our service portfolio is comprehensive, including the collection of biological, ecological, oceanographic, and physico-chemical data, habitat characterization and mapping, protection, preservation, and restoration activities, monitoring, impact assessments, research & innovation, and the development of mitigation strategies. Additionally, we are committed to education and community engagement, organizing workshops and educational activities. These efforts have fostered numerous collaborations worldwide, further establishing MER Lab as a hub of marine and environmental expertise
