The Village of Buffalo Grove (VBG) is located 35 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and 20 miles north of O'Hare International Airport. The Village's land area is 9.3 square miles, with 21.7 percent in Cook County and the remaining 78.3 percent in Lake County.

Buffalo Grove has been recognized as one of the safest communities in the United States, the most family-friendly community in Illinois, one of the best Chicago suburbs for young professionals and one of "Best Places to Live" according to Money Magazine.

Buffalo Grove's four elementary school districts and two high school districts consistently receive acknowledgement for providing high quality education.
