After years in the home remodeling industry, childhood friends William Barr & Michael Strmac established Universal Windows Direct in April 2002 as a retail location with the goal of providing the highest quality home remodeling products to homeowners.

Universal Windows Direct successfully achieved this mission, with 20-30% growth year-over-year, through a combination of tremendous buying power and the philosophy of running a low cost business. Creating the exclusive UniShield™ product line were essential to the company's growth, along with a systematic approach to sales, marketing and operations.

In April 2006 Universal Windows Direct launched its dealership program that today is represented with locations from coast-to-coast. With the dealership program, Universal Windows Direct offers business owners the training and support needed to experience the success of the original location in any market.

With the dealership program, Universal Windows Direct has broadened its products and services to consumers throughout the United States, receiving national recognition for its sales, products, organization and philanthropic efforts.
