The Atchison County Sheriff's Office, located in Atchison, Kansas, has over 30 employees. This office consist of two divisions: Operations and Detentions, both overseen by Sheriff Jack Laurie and Undersheriff Toby Smith.

The Operations Division, is comprised of Patrol, Investigations, Narcotics Investigations, Records Management, Concealed Carry Permit Processing, Offender Registration, Civil Process Service, and Administrative Services.

The Atchison County Sheriff's Office is the only agency in Atchison County to have a fulltime narcotics detective, focusing on the illegal narcotics trafficking in all of Atchison County.

The Detentions Division, supervised by Captain Travis Wright, includes Jail, Court Security, Facility Security, and Inmate Transportation Unit.

The Atchison County Jail is a 72 bed facility which houses those charged and awaiting trial, those arrested on warrants, those serving imposed sentences by the courts, those placed on holds by Parole and Probation, those sentenced to and awaiting beds in the state prison system, as well as others placed here on holds for other agencies.
