About
Dickinson State University (DSU) established the Theodore Roosevelt Center (TRC) to support the study of the life and legacy of the 26th President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt. DSU initiated this work because the university is located in Roosevelt's second home, the North Dakota Badlands and because Theodore Roosevelt, like other presidents before Herbert Hoover, does not have a presidential library. His papers are scattered in archives around the country. For example, Roosevelt papers can be found at the Library of Congress, Harvard University, six national parks, and in smaller collections at numerous other repositories. The TRC is addressing this issue by creating a digital library of Roosevelt's books, articles, letters, diaries, executive documents, photographs, political cartoons, and other ephemera. The TRC also hosts an annual symposium, periodic public lectures and contests, and curriculum development as well as research and writing by scholars both in residence and elsewhere.
