About
Senhoa began as a project under VOICE, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, based in Washington DC. Under its predecessor, Senhoa opened an office in Siem Reap, Cambodia in July 2008 to provide social services to women and children vulnerable to sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking.
In January 2010, Senhoa became its own independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, based in California, USA.
We believe that disadvantaged communities should be free from oppression, poverty and discrimination. They should have equal access to education and be empowered to fulfill their life goals and aspirations.
Senhoa supports victims of human trafficking by providing income-generating opportunities, social reintegration and programs for self-empowerment through its three primary programs, which are the Lotus Kids' Club, the Lotus House, and the Our Own Hands programs.
LKC is a grassroots project dedicated to supporting street-working children, their families and the community in which they live through education, basic healthcare and community-building initiatives.
Lotus House is a residential facility that exclusively caters to the needs of vulnerable young women whom have been victimized and subjected to violence or exploitation.
The Lotus House objective is to prepare young women with the knowledge and skills they need for safe and secure income generation.
Our Own Hands is a jewelry line that aims to create opportunities for survivor artisans to earn an income, share their stories and raise awareness against exploitation. Senhoa Jewelry Social Enterprise is a social business in Cambodia that specializes in designing, manufacturing and retailing fashion accessories.
We are currently looking for graphic designers and web designers. If you are interested in either of these two areas, please contact us for further information. If you cannot volunteer but still want to get involved with the cause, please visit our website and donate.
