Oriental Group was established on 24 December 1963 as private limited company under the Companies Act,1965 and was converted to a public company on 22 February 1964 under its present name. Oriental was listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad since 10 March 1964.

The business segments of Oriental Group, comprising the Company and its subsidiaries, comprise from:
• Consultant;
• Mining ;
• Building;
• Automotive;
• Hotels and Resorts;
• Plastic Products;
• Plantation;
• Investment Holding and Financial Services;
• Investment Properties & Trading of Building Material Products; and
• Healthcare.

These business largely span over the Asia Pacific region in countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Mauritius, Thailand, People's Republic of China and Vietnam.

The Oriental Group has combined assets of RM 8.9 billion with total equity attributable to stockholders of the Company of RM 5.9 billion. Its cash and cash equivalents touched RM 3.5 billion as at 31 December 2016.
