About

George Cooper, a British interior designer and old Harrovian, founded the prestigious KK Collection on Sri Lanka's southern coast in 2006. The collection comprises 3 exceptional boutique hotels – the 12-bedroom Kahanda Kanda, 10-bedroom KK Beach and 14 bedroom The Villa Bentota, a safari camp in Yala with 6 tents – as well as a chic boutique in the heart of Galle Fort.

Kahanda Kanda opened in 2006, initially with 5 villas, and now has 12 separate villas, eight of which have their own private plunge pools. Each villa is decorated in a different style and the emphasis is on privacy and rejuvenation.

In 2015, George acquired a plot of land on prized Habaraduwa Beach and transformed it into KK Beach, a chic and affordable boutique hotel. Its contemporary modernist style is quite different to sister hotel KK yet the two share high standards of service and facilities and together support the growing number of discerning couples looking for a private and indulgent base near Galle.

In March 2020, Leopard Safaris joined KK Collection, and after some deep renovations, there are now 6 luxury tents adjoining the National Park, offering luxurious comfort, great food and service and an incredible wildlife experience.

In October 2021, The Villa Bentota reopened as part of KK Collection, having undergone extensive remodelling, and has become a popular wedding destination, as well as providing a great family holiday spot!

George Cooper opened his first shop in Galle Fort in 2009. Since then the business has expanded and KK Boutique is now located at 50 Pedlar Street in the Fort. On offer is a wide selection of stylish homeware products, an extensive fashion collection for both men and women, jewellery, and works of art by local Sri Lankan artists.

The KK Collection is a successful business which is fast growing in both the hospitality and the retail sector in Sri Lanka.
