St. John's Model Higher Secondary School is established and managed by the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum. This school was founded in 1957 by the late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios. At present His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos is the Manager and Patron of the School. This school serves as the Model School for the Mar Theophilus Training College under the same management.

This school is one of the several institutions in the Mar lvanios Vidya Nagar on the Bethany Hills, Nalanchira, which is a well known educational and cultural centre in the south. The presence of Mar lvanios College, Mar Baselios Engineering College, Mar Theophilus Training College, Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, St. Mary's Malankara Seminary and Jayamatha Institute adds greatly to the lustre of St. John's. The school caters to the educational needs of all the sections of society.

In addition to seeking excellence in education, the school stands for character formation, social-moral and spiritual development of pupils as envisaged in the Christian ideals of service to God and to the nation. When Pre-degree was delinked in the year 2000, the Govt. has sanctioned Higher Secondary Course in St. John's Model High School in order to continue the facilities once rendered by Mar lvanios College.

The school is well-equipped with lab facilities both for Computer and Science Subjects, school buses and boarding facilities.
