About

Hand in Hand Afghanistan Organization (HIHAO) is a nongovernmental organization (NGO) operating in Afghanistan with a vision of an Afghanistan free of poverty where gender equality is its cornerstone. HIHAO is a member of Hand in Hand Global Network of independent organizations with a shared mission to alleviate poverty and gender inequality through the creation of enterprises and jobs. The HiH Network has operations in India, Afghanistan, Kenya and Rwanda with fundraising and support offices (Hand in Hand International in London, and Hand in Hand Sweden in Stockholm).
Understanding these social challenges, HIHAO works closely with Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to address relevant strategic priorities by implementing entrepreneurial development programs and vocational skills training that supports social welfare and gender equality in Afghanistan.
Job creation remains the main focus of all Hand in Hand operations. whereas, HIHAO has adapted the successful model of Hand in Hand India to fit the cultural and social framework of Afghanistan, there are four core elements that define our approach: social mobilization; training; credit access; and value addition & market linkages.
