About

The JOSPEL project aims at improving the operating range of electrical vehicles by developing a novel energy efficient climate system that optimizes the energy consumption of electrical vehicles.

Thereby, the JOSPEL project addresses one of the major challenges in the automotive industry - namely how to increase the operating range of electrical vehicles.

A lot of energy is wasted on heating or cooling, limiting the already relatively short range by further draining the battery capacity. By applying thermoelectric Joule and Peltic effects, the project aims at optimizing the interior temperature control management in electrical vehicles as well as improving energy consumption and battery efficiency of the vehicles.

Behind the JOSPEL project are 14 project partners from 9 EU countries, who have have joined forces to exploit new emerging research opportunities in the field of heating/cooling, isolation, and communication systems for EVs. The partners include applied research centres, large companies, and SMEs with diverse competences.

The partners are: Aimplas, Insero, DOK-ING, AMV Design, AtoS, Fraunhofer ISE, Arkema, Alkè, Grupo Simoldes Plastic division, CTAG, Cleancarb, European Thermodynamics Limited, Durplastics, Cidete Ingenieros SL.

The 6.7 million Euro JOSPEL project has received funding from the European Union‘s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement n° 653851.
