About
Established in 1964, the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf (ENCSD) has been dedicated to serving deaf and hard of hearing students from the 54 easternmost counties of North Carolina. Starting with 72 students and 9 teachers, ENCSD has grown to offer comprehensive K-12 education on its Wilson campus. Originally serving only up to eighth grade, the school expanded to include a high school in 1979, with the first graduating class in 1982. For over 55 years, ENCSD has remained committed to fostering academic and personal growth for its students, while continually evolving to meet their needs
