Yav Pem Suab Academy

About

Yav Pem Suab Academy (YPSA) is a public charter school within the Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD), serving scholars K-6. The mission of YPSA is to grow and nurture underserved students to become high-performing individuals through a body-brain-compatible education.

YPSA has pioneered a number of successful academic approaches practiced in other parts of the country but not yet implemented in Sacramento. These successful practices include a longer school day and a shorter summer vacation. Further, in addition to the standard curriculum of English language art, math, science, and social studies, the Academy offers art, music, Hmong language development, Taekwondo, and sports.

The Academy is operated by a nonprofit organization led by several long-time educators and community members. The nonprofit is called the Urban Charter Schools Collective (UCSC).

Yav Pem Suab's goal is to rank within the top 10 elementary schools in SCUSD.
