The Huntington Police Department traces its history to 1872 with the appointment of Isaac H. Mitchell as Town Marshal of the city. Today the Huntington Police Department is a proud agency consisting of a budgeted strength of 103 sworn officers and supported by a professional staff of 3 civilians. The mission of the Huntington Police Department is to provide the highest level of professional police services while preventing crime through problem-solving partnerships.

The ability to achieve our mission is predicated on the recruitment and retention of the most highly regarded and qualified individuals. Honor, Pride and Duty is a creed carried by every officer at the Huntington Police Department.
