Supporting Citizen Initiative for Development in Africa (SCIDA-Liberia) is a Liberia based women's rights nonprofit and nongovernmental organization established 18th November 2013 by Mr. Daniel Riche a youth volunteer raised up in rural and abject poverty community in Nimba County northeast Liberia. On 25th May 2017 SCIDA-Liberia focus was redesigned and incorporated by two young Liberians Mr. Daniel Riche and Mr. Lawrence S. Dolo Jr. to support citizen's development initiatives, create positive engagement opportunities, and ensure that young people and the ordinary citizens (men & women) gain skills and knowledge that enable them to contribute positively to their community development. Today, SCIDA-Liberia is one of the leading non-governmental and nonprofit making organizations that is Championing the fight against social injustice, poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and insecurity, and enhancing peace and security through citizen's participation in the political, social-economic and governance decision-making of their communities. With about 10,000 ordinary citizens, state and actors benefiting from our programs and activities, the organization is run by an Executive Section with the administrative support of the Board of Directors.
SCIDA-Liberia is currently working in ten administrative districts in Nimba County Bain-Garr, Sanniquellie-mehn, Leewehypea, Meinpea-Mahn, and Yarmein, Twah River, Buu-Yao, Kparblee, Doe and Gbi & Doru with community-based structures established in each district (District Action Groups and District Coalitions) campaigns publicly for fairer governance based on rule of law. Its work is funded by private donations from the population at large and public grants including USAID/DAI-LEGIT, United States Department of State, etc.
SCIDA-Liberia has been in Nimba County northeast Liberia since 2013 with a focus on Youth leadership development, Advocacy (Human rights), Education (Awareness & Life Skills Training), Community Development, etc.
