About

Brant Family and Children's Services (Brant FACS) is an agency mandated by the Province of Ontario through the Child, Youth and Family Services Act to ensure the protection of children from abuse and neglect. Our agency serves the people of Brant County and, through our Native Services staff, the indigenous peoples – other than band members of Six Nations of the Grand River – residing in Brantford, Brant and Mississaugas of New Credit First Nations.

The ongoing daily workload of a Children's Aid Society ranges from answering routine inquiries to carrying out serious investigations into allegations of abuse or neglect of children. Our Agency's Intake Workers are required by law to investigate all such allegations promptly and thoroughly.

Brant FACS has followed a ‘community based' philosophy since the early 1970's that extends beyond the usual definition and has proven to be very successful. Our de-centralized model has staff working in and alongside neighbourhood residents where they can build trust, learn about their needs, build on strengths, provide access to services and supports in a convenient manner, and help to avoid crises before they happen.

We believe in transparency and the ongoing pursuit of improved outcomes for children and families. If you are interested in learning more about our Agency's protection investigation policies and procedures, you will find our service manuals posted on our website at www.brantfacs.ca.

We also believe in continuous learning and have some of the highest educated child welfare staff in the province. Child welfare is a vital part of social work services. Although we act as ‘agents of the state' in terms of keeping children safe, it is important that we also serve as advocates for the marginalized and oppressed in our society.

Current Brant FACS job openings are posted on the Ontario Association of Children's Aid Societies' website at www.oacas.org.
