LMCL was formed in 2004 as a geological, geotechnical and surveying consultancy. LMCL specialise in the remote acquisition of survey, geological and geotechnical data using the latest technology. LMCL were awarded their first Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) in 2013 with the CAA Reference #244. They currently hold a CAA Operational Authorisation (OA) based upon a Pre-Determined Risk Assessment to fly ‘near to' Residential, Commercial and Recreational areas (PDRA-01) and an OA based upon an Operational Safety Case (OSC) for Beyond Visual Line of Sight with Visual Observers (BVLOS-VO) drone operations in the Specific Category. As well as Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS); LMCL also have Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV), Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USV) and an Uncrewed Underwater Vessel (UUV) enabling the remote and safe surveying of many hazardous or inaccessible survey locations.

LMCL has the hardware, software and experience to process the data into formats required by a wide range of industry standard surveying, geological modelling and geotechnical analysis software. Furthermore, LMCL's geologists and engineers are also able to undertake analyses (and if required, designs) of natural exposures, excavations (both surface and subterranean), embankments, tips and lagoons in both engineering soil materials and rock masses.

LMCL have worked for a wide range of industries including Mining, Quarrying & Construction; Film, Television and Media; Property & Estate Management; Local Government, and the Ministry of Defence. LMCL have worked extensively in the UK, as well as in Ireland, France, Norway, Greenland, Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, Sardinia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Bangladesh, Chile, Uruguay and the Falkland Islands.

LMCL provided full-colour 3D point cloud surveys to HBO's Game of Thrones VFX department. They also produce full-colour 3D drone surveys of the racetracks and ‘B-Roll' video for the worldwide Extreme-E electric car rally series.
