About

MESHA raises awareness and funds to support health and wellbeing research and programs into conditions such as Post-Traumatic Stress for the nation's veterans, emergency service personnel and their families.

We promote and improve health and wellbeing for veterans, emergency service personnel and their families across Australia.

The Road Home was established as Foundation Daw Park in 1995 by veterans to raise funds for medical research and patient care facilities at the Repatriation General Hospital (RGH) in Adelaide.

In 2012, the name was changed to The Repat Foundation. The Repat Foundation contributed significantly to Veterans' and Service Personnel's Health and Wellbeing Research. Funds directly supported medical and scientific research including areas of health such as Alzheimer's disease, Post-Traumatic Stress, Prostate cancer, Rheumatoid arthritis, Colon cancer, Heart disease, Respiratory disease, Urological disorders, Sleep disorders, Communication difficulties and Diabetes. In addition to this, the Foundation also provided vital equipment for rehabilitation and for amputees.

In 2015, the South Australian government announced its intention to close the RGH. After careful consideration by The Board, a partnership with SA based charity The Hospital Research Foundation was formed to ensure The Repat Foundation's strong future in supporting health and wellbeing research and projects for veterans', emergency service personnel and their families.

In November 2015 we launched ‘The Road Home', to strengthen our position as a leading national veterans' health and wellbeing research organisation and align with the government's proposed $15 million Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Centre of Excellence.

Built on the world-leading independent research supported by The Repat Foundation over the last 20 years, The Road Home drives this forward to aid the health and wellbeing of veteran's, emergency service personnel and their families on a national scale.
