About
The Scottish Law Commission was established by an Act of the UK Parliament in 1965 (alongside the Law Commission of England and Wales) to advise on law reform. There are four Commissioners: a Chair (currently the Court of Session judge, Lady Paton) and three others. The Commission reports to both the Scottish and the UK governments. Its recommendations are based on research on the content and working of current law, comparative solutions, and the results of public consultation on the issues.
