To keep pace with the fast-growing textile market & create proficient textile graduates, the govt of Bangladesh started feeling of establishing a number of textile engineering colleges in Bangladesh. Shahid Abdur Rab Serniabat Textile Engineering College is one of them which was established in 2010 which is affiliated by University of Dhaka in a beautiful place & core of Barisal city besides C & B road Barisal. The first batch of this college entered this fast-growing sector after successful completion of graduation under the University of Dhaka. From the session 2013-2014, the college is affiliated with the Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX). Beautiful location, modern architectural design of the campus, developing skilled graduates since 2015 makes it the finest public textile engineering college in Bangladesh. Currently, the college is offering a bachelor's degree in Apparel Manufacturing Technology (AMT), Fabric Manufacturing Technology (FMT), Yarn Manufacturing Technology (YMT) & Wet Processing Technology (WPT)/ Dyeing Technology.
