About

Children's Sensory Therapy are a group of Independent, highly experienced and friendly Occupational Therapists, specialising in Paediatrics and Sensory Integration Therapy. In addition to this, we have a specialist focus on Sensory Attachment Intervention, working with children with early life trauma.

Our aim is to support not only the child, but to ensure we provide support to everyone involved in the child's care. This can include working with parents/carer's, teachers and teaching assistants. By working in collaboration with the team around the child it encourages the development of co-regulation, therefore helping us all to build positive relationships and experiences with the child and increasing understanding of the reasons for the child's behaviour.

We strongly believe that all children should be given the chance to reach their full potential through access to school, play, friendships and opportunities for shared joy, pleasure and fun.

This is a process to help the child's regulation and attachment. One session a week will not be enough to make neurological changes and activities need to be embedded into daily life, therefore strategies need to be embedded into everyday life, and completed with a primary caregiver.
Some of these areas may be challenging for some children. With our knowledge and professional expertise, we can help to support the child and their support network by:

• Supporting their access to learning
• Offering advice on adaptations to the environment in which they learn or live
• Helping them to develop their ability to accept co-regulation, develop self-regulation and develop their functional skills
• Develop their sensory processing
• Fine motor skills (e.g. pencil skills) and gross motor skills (e.g. riding a bike)
• Self organisation and functional skills such as cutlery use and bottom wiping
We work in homes, schools and our Sensory Integration Clinic, Midlands Child and Family Centre
