The Port of Los Angeles, America's Port® and the premier gateway for international commerce, is located in San Pedro Bay, 25 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. The Port of Los Angeles encompasses 7,500 acres of land and water along 43 miles of waterfront, and features both passenger and cargo terminals, including container, automobile, bulk and warehouse facilities that handle billions of dollars worth of cargo each year. When measured by container throughput, the Port has consecutively ranked as the No. 1 port in the nation since the year 2000.

With an exceptional credit record, the Port maintains an AA bond rating, the highest rating attainable for self-funded ports. The Port also wields tremendous economic impact, generating employment for more than 3 million Americans nationwide. In California alone, more than 1 million jobs are related to trade though the Port of Los Angeles.

In addition to its impressive cargo portfolio, the Port funds and maintains the LA Waterfront, and remains committed to enhancing public access to the waterfront by connecting visitors and local harbor communities with recreational and commercial attractions that expand and diversify the Port's position as a premier source of economic vitality for the region. With miles of public promenade and walking paths, acres of open space and scenic views, the LA Waterfront blankets more than 400 acres of prime waterfront property and boasts historic Los Angeles Harbor landmarks, such as the Vincent Thomas Bridge, Angels Gate Lighthouse and Municipal Warehouse No. 1.
