Tanzanian National Parks (TANAPA) is a parastatal Organization that was established in 1959 and is mandated to manage all areas designated as National Parks.
Currently, TANAPA manages 22 National Parks covering a total area of 104,578 Km2 which is equivalent to 11% of the total area of the country.
National Parks managed by TANAPA includes the World's best National Park Serengeti, Highest free standing Mountain in the World and the highest peak in Africa ,Mount Kilimanjaro, Arusha,Gombe,Mahale Mountains,Kitulo,Katavi,Lake Manyara,Nyerere (previosly part of selous),Tarangire,Mkomazi,Ruaha,Udzungwa Mountains,Saadani,Rubondo Island,Saanane Island,Kigosi,River Ugalla,Rumanyika-Karagwe,Burigi-Chato,Ibanda-Kyerwa and Mikumi National Park.
There are several activities that you can do once in the parks, and that includes game drives,mountain climbing,hiking,boat cruise,walking safari,Day game drive,Nigjt Game drive,Camping,horse riding,Paragliding,Canopy walkway,Chimps trekking and so on.
