About

The African Youth Action Network (AYAN) is a youth-led organization fronting youth as champions for social and economic development. AYAN strives to be a dynamic organization that not only recognizes the unique challenges faced by displaced persons and refugee youth but also actively engages and supports them in realizing their full potential. AYAN is dedicated to cultivating and amplifying their individual, community, and national aspirations. Through collaborative initiatives, Livelihood opportunities, and advocacy, we aim to create a resilient and inclusive future for all young people across the African continent.

AYAN Thematic focus are; Peace Building and Leadership Development, Advocacy, Livelihoods and Enterprise Development.

VISION:
We envision a peaceful world offering youth an opportunity to participate and involve themselves in socio-economic development decisions and activities.

MISSION:
To harness and nurture refugees and young people's personal, community and national aspirations to promote peace and development through informed, innovative and value driven approaches.

We are a value driven organization. We are committed to the following values in all that we do:

1. Gender Equity: we leverage a gender responsive approach in all our work.

2. Inclusivity: we target both displaced (refugees and IDPs) and host populations.

3. Human Rights-based Approach: we strive for equal participation, equity, justice, and accountability. We believe all rights and dignity of our beneficiaries will be upheld.

4. Transparency, Integrity and Accountability: we take responsibility for our actions and their impacts.

5. Equity and Social Justice: we will ensure that opportunities and resources for the needs of the young people are distributed in a just, fair and impartial manner.

6. Harmonization: we will integrate approaches to our work that leverage collaboration with different sectors, communities and stakeholders.
